Newsflash: George W. Bush not such a bad guy after all.
Please view this moving footage of President Bush’s tour of the disaster area. It brought me to tears, and I thought I was all out of those.
My favorite line from the broadcast comes from correspondent Brian Scott:
“Tracy, President Bush has been showing real leadership out here. Yesterday he started the day with a fly-over tour over Kansas. Of course, that's one of the fifty states in the direct path of this presidency."
(Thanks, Sandy, for pointing this out!)

Ugh. I need to be organised, and I'm not. It's prom and book day tomorrow, so I'm up at stupid o'clock to get the bus in to school, then heading back to Debbie's, spending the day there and getting ready for prom together, then off to the prom in the evening, and back to hers afterward. My parents are getting back tomorrow, in the middle of the night. I have to leave food for the cats, and remember all my books and all my stuff for the prom. Having our own little afterparty should be fun, it's just a bit stressful.
My ankles hurt, and I'm going to need plasters. I don't want to have to get up early tomorrow.
I have a cat on me. This is a good thing.
I would complain about the thing on Gaia that's bugging me, but it wouldn't make much sense.
After the prom I need to: do Arcadia updates, finish/do Arcadia ficlets, do Alpha Helix RP, and Nequus RP, and.... that might be it. I've probably forgotten something, though.
Off to pack stuff for tomorrow now. Bye all. Back on Saturday!

So, there is a redhead in my Spanish class. He sits across the room but it right in my line of vision. Do you know how guilty I feel? Scoping some hottie out while sitting next to my mister? VERY guilty! But I can't help it. That kid is like...some redheaded god!
Speaking of redheads. Has anyone seen the first pics of HP6? Ron Weasley is my hero.
I am too hot to write more.

Had lunch at Hopkins with my friend Paddy and Megan today, then went to look at a couple houses with Paddy and Jim. I think they found one they are going to try to buy. It's close to where I live and that's cool. Then I went to Starbucks and sat and talked to Paddy for a bit. I like Paddy. She is someone I can talk to about things I can't talk to anyone else about, at least a good girl friend. I find it hard to talk to women, but so easy to talk to guys, but it's good to have a close girlfriend you can really talk to. Then I went to CostCo with Paddy and now I am home. I am very tired and have a headache I have had for two days now. I didn't submit my paper nor my readings yesterday and they are going to be late. I hope I can get them done tonight. If not, they will be turned in tomorrow. I hope my teacher will be understanding and merciful, by some miracle. Might take a hot bath tonight to relax. My muscles ache all over.
Paddy is a nanny and is trying to help me get a nanny job. Who knows, might be fun. I might look into it. Not sure yet if that's something I really want to do. We'll see. I still have my interview at Fsu Monday too. We'll see how that goes as well.

My lawnmower is out of gas, and I have no money, so it looks like my grass is just going to not get cut today. I have a forest growing in my yard. This is not a good thing.
I think I'm going to make a music post later. I've been listening to great music today, and I feel the need to share it. :)
The beef stroganoff is smelling delicious. :)

A fictional autobiography of a life spent amongst the prostitutes and pimps of 1930s Paris.
Hummm reading this book was a bit like being thrown into a fast-flowing river, there are some interesting rocks along the way but most of them fly past too quickly for you to hang on to them.
While I understand the titillation value of sexual depravity and misogyny is of course very artistic i'm sure, when it is presented in such a way that there seem to be no consequences for the characters involved it is very hard to care.. e.g. in the film The Matrix, who cares if Neo gets thrown through a window, he will simply fly around a bit and then resume the fast-paced kung-fu.
Score -- 2 out of 5 or I'm probably too stupid to appreciate this

I have decided that I am going to start walking in an attempt to lose weight.
My low point was when Matthew agreed that I would be really fucking hot if I dropped a hundred pounds...not that my weight bothered him four to five years ago when we were fucking OR a couple months ago when I was busy getting a 'protein shake' from him.
Bastard.
Overall, though, I'm doing it for me. I'm tired of being fat. I really am. If I get out there and start walking, maybe I'll drop a few pounds and feel better about myself. My wonderful friend and brother figure, Jeff, is going at it with me. Yesterday we walked several blocks from 10th and Rural to Washington street and back. We walked for approximately an hour. When we got back I was tired as hell, but I felt accomplished not just because I sucessfully walked so far, but because I did it without an inhalor. We have agreed that we are going to walk three times a week, weather permitting. Today, we are also going to the gym. Woot.
Richard is seriously excited for me that I am taking this step for myself. He made it a point to let me know he is fine with how I am now, but he's excited for me as well. He's been very supportive...and the best part is...if I DO lose a lot of weight I can say that I knew him when I was fat. hehe
Poker and alchy, my apt, this weekend. Woot. I'm excited.
Richard is coming over Saturday night.
We did a lot of talking yesterday about our sexual problem. He likes things that I don't like. I like things that he doesn't like...so its got us in a bind. Part of the problem is I'm not exactly comfortable with him sexually yet. He wants me to 'learn' to talk dirty to him, but I keep asking him to let me get comfortable with him first. *shrug*
He's a little pushy, but I'm not going to complain. He PROMISED me there will be NO SEX this weekend...no matter how much alchy is involved.

so how obsessed am i with summerland?!?!?!?!?!?! i frickin love this show!!!! it's just so....i don't know...soap operay????? i mean, it's like the oc or something plus 7th heaven...it's awesome! i love braden's rebellious ways and his difficulty in coming to terms with his parents' death....ava and johnny's strained relationship.....nikki's struggle to find popularity in her new town...and derrick's eternal search for a father figure. i also love how lori loughlin created the series and made herself star in it, zac efron's jacked up teeth, carmen electra's brief guest starring stint, and jesse mccartney's terrible acne during the second season. ah, it's all just so classic. anyway, it's been three years now since summerland was cancelled, and i've almost come to the point where i've seen all 26 episodes (on the n, it's still not out on dvd!!! :( :( :( !!!), so i've been wondering, what have these people been up to since summerland wrapped??? well, here's what i could find.
lori loughlin....aka ava gregory. she's about to be in another wb/cw series, the new 90210!!!!! yay!!!!!
merrin dungey....aka susannah rexford. she's done a lot more tv, including a regular spot on the king of queens and guest roles on grey's anatomy, boston legal and alias.
ryan kwanten....aka jay robertson. he was in flicka (my sister's favorite movie), the horror movie dead silence and the tv show true blood.
jesse mccartney....aka bradin westerly. he's got a new album out (which is surprisingly good) and is dating danity kane's lead singer aubrey o'day. he hasn't done a ton of acting just a few voice over roles.
shawn christian...aka johnny durant. he's been doing a ton of tv, and he usually plays a doctor for some reason. he has a regular spot on days of our lives and has guest starred on runaway, las vegas, boston legal, csi, ghost whisperer and shark. he's in the upcoming summer movie meet dave, which looks incredibly stupid and i definitely will not be seeing.
kay panabaker....aka nikki westerly. she was on phil of the future and in the disney channel original movie read it and weep with her sister, danielle (also on summerland). she's also been on a few episodes of csi, suite life of zac and cody, boston, legal and weeds. she was also in last summer's movie nancy drew as nancy's friend george.
nick benson....aka derrick westerly. he's on this year's new tv show, swingtown, about swingers in the 1970s.....um yeah.
taylor cole...aka erika spalding. she was on numbers, csi and supernatural. she was in the mtv volleyball movie all you've got and has also been in a lot of other movies that i've never heard of, but i wish she would be in more stuff because she's really pretty and i always really liked her on summerland.
zac efron...aka cameron bale. well, zac's been a very busy boy! probably the most successful of all of the summerland alums...he's been in the disney channel's hit movies high school musical and high school musical 2...and will soon be in high school musical 3. he was also in last summer's hit movie hairspray and upcoming movie seventeen again. he's considered the new american hearthrob and is dating disney channel cutie vanessa anne hudgens.
jonathan slavin...aka colby freed. he's done a lot of tv, including inconceivable, grey's anatomy, bones, ugly betty and my name is earl.
jay harrington...aka dr. simon o'keefe, ava's ex-fiance. he's done a bunch of tv as well including the inside, the ghost whisperer, desperate housewives and some tv movies.
danielle savre...aka callie. she played kaya on the shortlived mtv series kaya. she also played jackie wilcox on heroes, and was on malcolm in the middle and the closer. she's also been in a few tv movies and in the land of women and one of the bring it ons.
shelley buckner...aka amber starr, nikki's best friend. she was on the show just for kicks, but other than that she really hasn't done much, but she should, she's a really cute kid and was great on summerland!
jesse head...aka lucas, bradin's friend. he's done lots of tv, like grey's anatomy (who hasn't been on that show????), numbers, weeds, crossing jordan, and my name is earl.
carmen electra...aka mona. after her character died on the show, she's still had plenty to do. movies such as cheaper by the dozen 2, date movie, epic movie, scary movie 4, meet the spartans and others and tv guest star roles on stacked and tripping the rift.
sara paxton...aka sarah borden, bradin's psycho ex-girlfriend who we never really found out what happened to. she was in that terrible movie sydney white as the bitchy president of the sorority, played the role of marnie on return to halloweentown on the disney channel, starred with drake bell in superhero movie and with emma roberts and jojo in aquamarine and was on short lived shows quintuplets and darcy's wild life. she also came out with a single and some songs on various soundtracks.
steve talley...aka bryce, bradin's hot surfer friend. he was in the two latest american pie movies as stifler's younger brother (hahahaha, yeah!) and is in a few upcoming movies.
danielle panabaker....aka faith, bryce's sister. she was in sky high, read it and weep, mr. brooks and yours mine and ours. she is currently on shark as stark's daughter and is in the upcoming remake of friday the 13th.
well, that's really all that matters....i just wanted to do this because there were lots of hotties on summerland and i just wanted to see what they're up to now so i can check out their latest works! :) hope you enjoyed!

Beef stroganoff is in the crock pot.
I am so excited about this. If it's delicious, I'll be making this once a week.
I'm enjoying my day off so far. I plan on working on laundry, washing the few dishes that are in the sink, and getting some more stuff form the spare bedroom boxed up and cleaning part of the carpet.
I'm finally on the fourth disc of Queer As Folk Season 1. Michael is the gay version of my perfect man, srsly.
Tomorrow will be a super easy day at work. We're closing four hours early, and there are two of us closing, so it'll be a great night hopefully. Then, I don't go back to work until Sunday.
Okay, I need lunch...I made tuna salad a couple of days ago, so I'm going to go toast some bread and make a sandwich. :)

Debbie and Holly came round on Monday. We watched Touch of Pink, which is cute, but slightly creepy in places, but has enough topless Kristen Holden-Ried to make up for that. Then we made Chinese, ate it with a really nice Rosé, and then proceeded to get unwisely drunk. Hence my last post.
Tuesday morning was not much fun, but eventually we made it out of the house and went to Reading. The trip there was rather surreal - sun, clear roads, open windows and loud music - like something from a tv show. Only with more nausea. Anyway, I managed to direct Holly to Reading, we found somewhere to park, and went shopping for stuff for Greece. And other stuff... I have a hair band for the prom, and a big bag for Greece, and a couple of new t-shirts. I still need to buy stuff like sun cream, but I can persuade my dad to pay for that... hopefully.
In the evening, we watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show! It was very good. Confusing, but good. I loved Riff Raff more than I probably should, and I'm going to go look for fic for it at some point. There is so much potential.
Holly had to go home, then. Yesterday Debbie and I learnt Greek and played with the cats and didn't do mch else, and today we watched Ma Vie En Rose. She's gone now, with my prom stuff for tomorrow (it's complicated), and I have a load of stuff to catch up on.
Here goes. Multiple memes.
I will write a drabble for the first five commenters to request one. In return, they have to post this in their journal (if they want to). You may request the character and/or the pair for the following fandoms: Tolstoy's War and Peace, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, Mary Gentle's Ash: A Secret History, Mary Gentle's 1610: A Sundial In A Grave, Torchwood, Doctor Who, CSI, Heroes, Hustle, Without A Trace, House of Flying Daggers, The Tudors (tv show), 300, Utena, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Criminal Minds, or ask for another and if I've seen/read/heard it, I will write if for you (if I can).

Currently reading Aleksander Hemon's THE LAZARUS PROJECT. It's very good. A Bosnian writer living in Chicago, married to an American Neurosurgeon researches the life and death of Lazarus Averbuch: a Jewish immigrant from Eastern Europe, killed by police in 1908 and labeled an anarchist.
Rora walked out of the bathroom, glanced at the TV disinterestedly, and switched on the light: for a moment, the two narrow cots and the socialist-fifties furniture were overlit like a prison cell, until a couple of bulbs hiccuped and died; the air stank of lead-based paint and suicide. How do you get to be a karaoke star?
Books I bought myself for my old day: TIN HOUSE's "Fantastic Women" issue, and Shawn Tan's THE ARRIVAL. The latter is just a stunningly beautiful book about the immigrant experience. Cole is enthralled with the book, and I was so pleased that understands the symbolism (can even verbalize it) and the who and what and why of a story written through pictures (no words).
