I too think that the first odd answer is rhubarb, but I believe it's because you eat the stalks of rhubarb, whereas you eat the fruits of all the others.

But, yes. As to the rest... me sooper dumb also. ^_^

(Post received yesterday, by the way. Thank you!)

That's the correct answer for question 1! The other two may need some looking up...

Now then. The clue re. number 2 - is it something to do with postal codes?

I have to admit to consulting the Electronic Oracle of W... but you did say 'looking up' might be required...

...anyway, it would appear (as far as I can tell! It wasn't terribly clear) to be something to do with geographic postal codes - in that Glasgow originally had a system like London's (i.e. the codes began with 'SW', 'NE' etc.). Is that the answer??

(Still in the dark on the last one...)

It is about postal code areas, but nothing as elaborate as that...

Ok... so maybe it's Edinburgh! Because Edinburgh postcodes begin 'EH' whilst all the others begin with a single letter (G, L and M).

(They say you learn something new every day - today I have learned more than I ever thought I could wish to know about Scottish postcodes!)

Correct! Any takers for number 3? It has something to do with sport...

Aha! I think I know this after all! Memories of PE lessons at school...

Netball positions, right?

'WA' is 'wing attack', 'GD' is 'goal defence', 'C' is centre. 'R' is the oddity because it is not a netball position.

And that's probably the last time I'll deliver the correct answer to a sporting question... ;-)

Ahh, trivia... my favourite specialism*! :-)

(and, uh, looking things up on Wikipedia...)

[*Can one specialise in generalities...? Oh well...]

Okay, I'm going to take a shot in the dark at each...

1. Based on the letters in each word (and how they're arranged), I'd say lemon doesn't fit. The other three share 2 features at least...
-That initial 'u' after the first consonant(s): cUcumber, pUmpkin, rhUbarb.
-They each have some consonants stuck together: cucuMBer, puMPKin, RHubaRB, whereas lemon doesn't have any of that. Dunno if I'm on the right track with either theory though, haha...I'm sure there's a simpler answer.

2. Absobloodyfreakinglutely no idea.

3. The best I can come up with is that C, GD, and R all have that little half-circle element to the shape of the letters, unlike WA which is all pointy.

Haha, I feel foolish. :D
